In mid-20th century, two Nepali poet Bhupi Sherchan and Gopal Prasad Rimal began to writing Gajals around the 1950s and 1960s. They played a vital role in introducing this poetic form to Nepali literature.

Nepali Gajals are beautiful songs filled with love, feelings and emotions. They are like heartfelt poems set to music.
